new pressure gauge for my bike pump!

my gauge stopped working so i went to the hardware store and picked up an in-line gauge (they're near the compressors) and a couple of fittings, hose clamps and now I don't have to buy a new pump- the gauge was about $18, the rest about $5.
I could also replace the hose when / if it gets too old. I can't remove the old gauge though.... I can't bypass it...yet. I may keep tinkering to see if i can. but right now I'm going for a ride-
